TripAdvisor Ranks Providenciales in Turks and Caicos as World’s Top Island for Vacationers
Our very own Provo here in the Turks and Caicos was named by TripAdvisor as their 2015 pick for the world’s top island.
Providenciales had been TripAdvisor’s #2 “best island” in 2014, but this year bumped Ambergris Caye in Belize to claim the top spot.
Travel site TripAdvisor selected Travelers’ Choice award winners based on the quality and quantity of user reviews (and that’s YOUR reviews, thank you!) over 12 months.
Besides the glowing reviews, why does TripAdvisor think our island of Providenciales so special?
The diving and snorkeling in Providenciales is as convenient as it is stunning, thanks to miles of coral reef that’s easily accessible from the shore. The upscale resorts and captivating beachscapes of Grace Bay make it a popular choice for waterfront escapes. The cliffs and crags of Chalk Sound make a lovely backdrop for kayaking the bright turquoise waters.
Winning islands were determined by TripAdvisor using an algorithm that looked at the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and opinions for hotels, attractions and restaurants on each island gathered during a 12-month period.
In case you have never had the chance to spend your vacation at the Tuscany on Grace Bay, Providenciales is one of six main islands in the Caicos group of the Turks and Caicos Islands just east of the Bahamas.
